YU Seforim Sale

This year's YU Seforim sale will be taking place January 28th-February 19th. Prices at this sale are usually Israel-esque and sometimes even cheaper than that.

My contact who usually gets the goods for me is headed off to Israel to learn for 6 months, leaving me with nobody to get the stuff for me. Luckily, I found out that if I can get an order together of over $1,000, they will ship the stuff here.

They pretty much have everything possible, from Artscroll and Feldheim classics to hard-to-find Shailos v'Tshuvos. Check out the catalog, and if you're in the Baltimore/Washington area and are interested in getting anything, contact me at AlanLaz AT gmail DOT com and we'll see if we can get it shipped.

We will be in NY on the 28th, we may or may not be able to pick it up for you. Give me a call, we can talk.

$1,000 is a lot. Especially with reduced prices. For that money, surely you can buy lots of gas to take you to the sale yourself! :)

Nyfunnyman here- I am usually involved in the sale, this year I am not. I can get you stuff if you want. And the prices in recent years haven't been unbelievable. they aren't really israel-esque. also, they have a lot less "seforim" now and much more- as its said in the YU bais- kefirah sefarim (not that they are all kefirah- but academic)

To echo NY-
Sale used to be excellent... back when the official status of the operation was in the same category as a tax-exempt bake sale. The IRS stepped in after notincing that the 'bake sale' was raking in 100Gs and wondering if YU was selling $100 Apple pies. The sale became taxable and we have to eat the difference which in NY is about 9%.
Beats seforim store prices nonetheless!

As someone heavily involved in this year's sale I am going to have to disagree with these comments. I encourage anyone interested to check out our catalog at www.soyseforim.org and compare those prices to Eichlers or the like. On top of that, buying seforim at our sale supports student activities and the like, so in effect you are giving tzdakah while you buy your books. If anyone has any questions or comments that they would like addressed by the sale staff please feel free to email questions at soyseforim dot org and someone will get back to you.
