Teach it To Your Children...

I look forward to teaching my children the valuable lessons of life, the same way this father is...

I don't have a problem with a child learning to use a firearm safely. I *do* have a problem with any parent exposing their child to high noise levels. The ear protection he's wearing is inadequate. I know, because I'm a shooter who wears similar protection and I'm telling you, it's not enough - I've definitely damaged my hearing over the years. How sad to do that to a small kid who will have much greater cumulative loss since he started so young.

I hope you realized I don't really intend on doing this with my child.

You don't intend to teach your child to shoot or don't intend to do it at such a young age? Forget about the insufficient ear protection-- neither of them had ANY sort of eye protection. Besides, I don't think a child that age is likely to understand that guns should only be touched with parental supervision. Poor kid!
