Leary is joined by his pal comedian Lenny Clarke (clahk) and the regular Red Sox announcers, Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo. They often have local guests come on for an inning or so - Affleck, Damon (Matt), etc.

Lenny Clarke and Dennis Leary in the booth on NESN (New England Sports Network, owned by the Sox).
I thought Jerry Remy (color man and Sox ex-2nd baseman) was gonna stop breathing! Watched it live at work...so funny. You know Lenny and Dennis were lit.
Check Out Seth Mnookin and bostondirtdogs.

This is such a wild change from the very well-behaved Astros games that I watch online every day that I thought at first it was a joke. So I checked it out -- that was clearly Schilling on the mound for the Sox, so it would have been Aug 15th, top of the 5th inning. Went back and watched the original gamecast on mlb.tv, and yup -it was the same crazy thing. What a hoot! I watched it 3 times and laughed every time. Then I sent it to all my Jewish baseball nutso friends. By the way, the Astros catcher, Brad Ausmus, is Jewish too.

Shawn Green, recently traded to the Mets is Jewish, too. And don't forget Jason Marquis, either.

Remy and Orsillo failed to metion a 3rd Jewish ballplayer...LHP Craig Breslow...a Yalie by the way!

Also on the Sox roster, but sent down to Pawtcuket(AAA) is Adam Stern, another MOT.

anon-

Adam Stern has been traded to the Orioles (for Javy Lopez). Since he was claimed on waivers by another team after July 31, he can't join Baltimore until the season ends.

Stern and David Newhan (another MOT) will need to compete for roster spots next spring.

why is it okay for the Jews to make fun of other races, but not others to comment on jews? Jews are so hypocritical and feel they are still victims of some event that happened almost 70 yrs ago. GEt over it!!

The commentator on here called Javy Lopez "javy, javy lavy whatever", made fun of his latin name. Should us latinos stand up and get pissed off about it? Is it okay for the Jew to comment on a latino but no one else can comment on jews? Stop being so hypocritical.

I guess that last post was inevitable but it's nice that it didn't come until after 22 sensible ones. For the record, I seriously doubt that Dennis Leary or Lenny Clarke are Jews, so I have no idea where post #23 was coming from. They were just two drunk stand-up comedians riffing on various pop culture themes.

Also for the record, Kevin Youkilis is not Jewish. He's a Greek kid (or Greek-American, to put a finer, PC point on it) from Ohio. I'm surprised that Leary (who seems pretty sharp overall) didn't know this, since he's a known Boston sports fan and Youk has become semi-famous as the "Greek god of walks" from the baseball book "Moneyball." I guess that phrase prolly doesn't immediately connote ethnicity to most people these days. And also he and Clarke were both clearly lit up.

It's still pretty effing funny and classic Leary and Clarke...

sorry, buddy, but Youk is a Jew. His dad is Armenian and Youk grew up in the diamond business, which is what he plans on doing after baseball. Your baseball book, "Moneyball" is way off.

3:40 PM, September 24, 2006

Anonymous Greenie said...

It's been well documented that Moneyball was incorrect in labeling Youkilis as Greek. He is certainly Jewish and not Greek.

10:13 PM, September 25, 2006

Anonymous BobbyL said...

As per the "Moneyball" comments, Youkilis was referred to as the Greek god of walks because his last name is a homonym for Euclis, the Greek god of walks. It was no reference to his heritage. People, pay attention. If you read it, make sure you comprehend it.

This is to Post number 23. You are the only person here who completely missinterpreted this post. This clip is here in celebration of an exciting, rare and very funny moment of televised basebal.

What happened to you was, you saw the headline and your hatred of jews kicked in before your sense of humor did. You watched it thinking we (the jews) were angry about it. While we (the jews) were laughing our asses off.

See folks racism can rob you of laughter. I wonder what else.

to post #23. you people dont reallize that jews, for the most part have a sense of humor when it comes to these things. even if someone slites us a little we laugh about it. maybe its because we are confident as a people who are educated (and speak the lang...cough cough).
we dont just sit around and wait for something to go wrong so we can protest.
maybe if u spent more time educating yourself and your children, and less time putting fancy $3,000 rims on your $2,000 mini-vans, you will have a different outlook in life.puta

Wow! All of you folks really need to get a life. Gringos, Latinos, Jews... Especially you Mr. putting fancy rims on a mini-van, I'd bet you can't even afford a yugo. If you even know what that is? (cough cough)....

Point of order: The word is "slight" not "slite". (cough cough)

The clip is dadgum funny, too.

As an aside, I've always wanted to see an American national debate between Dennis Miller and Bill Maher, moderated by Jon Stewart, with running commentary by Leary and Lewis Black. That's something I'd Pay-per-View before UFC.

Then I'd go watch UFC after. Y'know, for balance.

Respectfully Yours,
Niix S.
